Strength calculation lifting lugs

Koninklijke Niestern Sanders in Farmsum which, in addition to building, modernising and repairing (sea-going) vessels, serves the chemical industry via an efficiently operating field service. A client commissioned them to renovate a 2500m³ storage tank and to replace the bottom of the tank as well. The tank had to be relocated temporarily to make this possible.

Koninklijke Niestern Sanders called in Stevens Engineering for calculating the lifting weight of the tank and to design lifting lugs strong enough to take this weight. Stevens Engineering calculated the lifting weight of the tank at 110,000 kilos and also made the workshop drawings of the lifting lugs.
